What ZIMDAT is and what it can do
ZIMDAT is a database, developed using DevInfo Software, provides a method to organize, store and display data in a uniform format to facilitate data sharing at country level, across governments, civil society, UN departments and other development partners and the general public. ZIMDAT will promote the use of the same data sets thereby preventing conflicting information on the national indicators.
Specifically, ZIMDAT is a database system that:
Facilitates the systemization, storage and analysis of performance indicators in different thematic areas that are defined by the users.
Allows for user-friendly analysis of data through tables, graphs, reports and map options. The system allows the creation of global, regional, national and local maps, with up to ten geographic levels.
Allows the grouping of indicators in different frameworks, sectors and sub sectors, by themes, institutions, sources, international commitments and goals.
Provides updated time series as well as multiple estimates from various sources, disaggregate down to ward level, by sex and urban\rural strata whenever these are available.
Allows the creation, modification and merging of indicator databases without the need for specialized programs or technical support , the system contains a wizard that provides a step by step orientation for these tasks.
Installation Instructions
Unzip the zipped folder and run the file named Setup (the one with a computer and CD icon) and wait for the setup wizard dialog to appear. Follow the setup procedures as prompted by the setup wizard it is advisable to select default settings provided by the wizard. Please note that to install ZIMDAT you should log on to an account with administrative rights. After the installation choose to restart your computer or restart latter.
